Person Behind @BPGlobalPR ‘Reveals’ Themselves

The satirical Twitter feed, @BPGlobalPR, has many times more followers than BP’s official Twitter feed.
In the wake of the Gulf Coast oil spill, the feed has become popular for its biting, and funny commentary regarding the disaster.
Now, the person behind the feed has “revealed himself.” His name is “Leroy Stick,” if a blog post is to be believed. In the post, “Stick” takes some jabs at the PR and marketing business:
So what is the point of all this? The point is, FORGET YOUR BRAND. You don’t own it because it is literally nothing. You can spend all sorts of time and money trying to manufacture public opinion, but ultimately, that’s up to the public, now isn’t it?
Right now, PR is all about brand protection. All I’m suggesting is that we use that energy to work on human progression. Until then, I guess we’ve still got jokes.
“Stick” is using the feed to raise money for the Gulf Restoration Network, to which he has already donated $10,000.
