Enough With the Private Jets Already
There's a good chance that a story won't shine PR pros in a positive light when it starts out like this: Part of the glamorous life of a reporter is dealing with public-relations types who stay busy trying to find ways to interest me in their company. That above line comes from Terry Maxon, who writes the Airline Biz blog for the Dallas Morning News, and has been inundated with junior PR folks pitching him story ideas about private jets that, "take us to lesser used airports, can bypass the long lines at the TSA checkpoints or otherwise speed up our trips." He then calls out, not by name, two AAE's from the same agency, who sent him the same exact pitch, on the same day. This all preceded by a Junior Account Executive from the same agency, who sent him the same pitch. Six weeks earlier. Timing is everything, people! So, if you're pitching private jets as an alternative to busy airports, stay away from Terry Maxon at the Dallas Morning News. He's heard the story, plenty of times, and is not interested.
