American Airlines has named Andrew Backover VP of corporate communications. This is a global leadership position in which Backover will oversee American Airlines publishing, which produces American Way magazine, media relations, employee comms, social media, CSR, and consumer relations. Backover joined the airline in 2006 and was previously MD of corp comms.
Burson-Marsteller has named Mayang Schreiber CEO and market leader for the firm’s Indonesian operation. She will be based in the firm’s new Jakarta office reporting to Bob Pickard, president and CEO of the Asia-Pacific region. Schreiber joins from IndoPacific Edelman, where she was a VP. The previous CEO, Daisy Primayanti, left to pursue other interests, according to B-M’s press release.
Effective December 31, T. Daniel Tearno will step down from his daily role as SVP and chief corporate relations officer for Heineken USA. He will stay on as an adviser in areas including government relations and public policy. He has been with the company for 16 years.
Cari Ross has left ID PR after eight years with the company to launch her own firm. According to Deadline Hollywood, Ross will likely continue to rep her clients, which include Salma Hayek, Jennifer Connelly, and The Good Wife‘s Julianna Margulies.
