Roll Call: Kaplow, Ruder Finn, U of Akron, and More

Nick Charles has been named editor-in-chief at Kaplow, a new position at the firm. Charles will head up content and community strategy across platforms. He was previously the global head of content at Porter Novelli working with clients like Hewlett-Packer and Gillette.

Ruder Finn has partnered with Japan’s Kyodo Public Relations, the first PR firm to be listed on the Tokyo stock exchange. The two firms have worked together for about a decade. The two firms will exchange international resources. Kyodo PR will offer insight and services in Japan and Korea. Last month, Ruder Finn opened a new office in New Delhi.

The University of Akron has added two execs to its PR and marketing team. Eileen Korey joins as chief comms officer from Metro­Health System where she was VP of comms. And Wayne Hill, a former ad exec, has been named head of marketing. Each will make $170,000 per year. They replace Barbara O’Malley who has taken a position at Webster University.
