The Fiddlin' Foresters website has already been shut down in an effort to reduce waste.

The major political parties continue to battle it out over ways to cut spending and grow the economy. The White House is taking what it admits is a small step towards curbing wasteful government spending with the aptly named “Campaign to Cut Waste.”

Launched this week and led by VP Joe Biden (“because no one messes with Joe,” President Obama says in the campaign video), the initiative will seek out ways to save money or get back precious government dollars that are now being unnecessarily spent. Among those wasteful expenditures already identified are a large number of government-funded websites, like one for the Fiddlin’ Foresters, “the official old-time string band of the US Forest Service.” That website has already been brought down.

The President says they’ve already pinpointed $33 billion in savings.
