Kris Jenner Tells Brands Not to Fear the Kardashians

How's that talk show going?Say what you will about Kris Jenner, but she knows how to promote herself—and her children. The world’s foremost walking advertisement logically showed up at Ad Week with a simple message for brands: don’t fear the Kardashian clan.

It seems she’s afraid that her cash cow is losing value despite the myriad endorsement deals held by everyone whose name starts with a k:

…savvy marketer that she is, she also didn’t waste the opportunity to pitch a roomful of ad people. Ms. Jenner spent some time trying to appeal to advertisers and agencies in the room that aligning with the Kardashian will reap returns.

That might be a tougher sell than it was in the past, because most prestige brands understandably don’t like to have their spokespeople turn up in the tabloids (which Jenner checks daily, because she provides about 75% of their content).

Ms. Jenner noted that social media is a major committment the Kardashians and Jenners have made for PR purposes…

By working with one of the members of the family, advertisers get a “security blanket,” she said. For example, if Ms. Jenner signs an endorsement deal, her daughters might mention it to their Twitter followers or post on Instagram about it, extending the reach to millions more people.

That’s all well and good, but why would an established brand want that kind of attention? The choice comes down to publicity or reputation: which is more important?

Sarah Palin to Write Diet Book

The halcyon days of 2008 seem like a distant memory to most of us, but the predictable lamestream media has yet to recover from its fascination with former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

When Sarah went shopping in LA’s Studio City this week, the trusty paparazzi were there to capture all the action—and the resulting photos led gossip blogs to speculate about her apparent weight loss.

Never one to let the story get away from her, Palin (sort of) responded in an email to People magazine, stating that her family “…is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline focusing on where we get our energy and balance as we still eat our beloved homemade comfort foods!”

Palin and husband Todd have always identified as proud hunters–and Sarah has commented on her “high protein”, Atkins-style diet in the past. In her first post-election interview way back in ’08, she spoke with Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren while preparing a moose chili that sounded quite delicious. We think she may be onto something here!

As of this morning, no publisher or date for the book has been announced.

Will Sarah hire Nancy French, ghostwriter of daughter Bristol’s memoir, to pen this meaty tome? Will this new project help revive the Palin brand? More importantly, why didn’t Kris Jenner think of this first? “Kooking with the Kardashians” practically writes itself!

Kim Kardashian’s Former Publicist Friend Suspects PR May Have Been A Wedding Motive

Kim Kardashian’s former friend, JJ Public Relations head Jonathan Jaxson, says he thinks Kim K got married for publicity. You think?

“Part of it was publicity, she knew they were going to make a lot of money from her wedding. It made them millions,” he told RadarOnline.com. “I do think it was a genuine relationship, it wasn’t a genuine marriage though. It was all orchestrated for TV, it was all for show. It was just too much,” he continued.

He also says he wouldn’t be surprised if there was a reconciliation because it would get attention.
