Solomon McCown has hired former ABC News Correspondent T.J. Winick as vice president. With nearly two decades spent in broadcast news and feature television, Winick brings the perspective of a veteran journalist to the agency’s award-winning media relations, communications training, and issues and crisis management capabilities. As vice president, he will conduct high-level writing and content editing across all client accounts and digital channels, and direct how the agency conceives and produces client videos. Winick comes to Solomon McCown after serving as a Correspondent and Anchor for ABC News based out of Washington, D.C., and New York City. During his five-and-a-half years at the network, he reported for Nightline, as well as weekend editions of Good Morning America and World News. (Release)

MWW announced that Ryan Smith has joined the agency as vice president. Smith brings more than a decade of media relations expertise and has represented top brands crossing a range of business categories. As a member of the MWW team, he will help guide media relations strategies for clients across many of the firm’s core practice areas including work for its consumer lifestyle marketing, corporate communications, public affairs consumer technology and healthcare clients. Smith joins MWW following a more than four-year stint at Rosica Public Relations where, as senior vice president of client and media relations, he led his team in core areas of agency practice including B2C, B2B, corporate communication, public affairs, crisis/issues management, event support and partnership development. Solomon McCown, a Boston-based national public relations firm, announced the opening of its new office in New York City. Solomon McCown has a track record of working with clients in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C., so the new office is a natural progression that will enable the firm to be closer to existing and prospective clients, as well as established real estate, financial services and healthcare companies, key growth areas for the agency. The firm has grown in the last two years, and has already hired 6 new employees in 2013. The new office will be led by Jonathan Pappas, a seasoned agency veteran who brings a compelling mix of agency, corporate, and real estate experience to New York City. (Release)

Ketchum has announced four new hires, three in Atlanta and one in New York: 

  • Phil Swire joins as senior vice president, digital strategy & technology, New York. Phil Swire leads Ketchum’s development function in the U.S. and oversees technology strategy across the Ketchum network. A digital strategist, Swire joins Ketchum from PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a leader in that firm’s digital strategy practice.
  • Matt Browher is the new senior vice president, digital strategy, Atlanta. Browher has extensive experience in strategy development, team management and interactive marketing, having recently worked at Digitas and as the digital practice lead for FleishmanHillard in Atlanta.
  • Amy Andrieux, the new vice president, multimedia content & strategy, New York, was formerly editorial director at MTV World. Andrieux oversees the Ketchum Digital video group, helps lead content strategy for the U.S., and helps to evolve Ketchum Digital’s multimedia capabilities. Andrieux brings a wealth of multimedia, video and content development experience to Ketchum from her experience developing and leading editorial strategy for MTV World online portals. 
  • Kristen Massaro, Vice President, Digital Strategy, New York, supports a number of key accounts, including Michelin and Gillette, and lends support to other markets in the Ketchum network, with emphasis on the Southern U.S region. Massaro, who has deep expertise in social media engagement, was previously with with Emanate, a public relations sister agency to Ketchum, where she led the digital and social strategy specialty since 2011. Julie Roehm is joining business software company SAP as SVP of marketing after a five-year hiatus. When we last heard from her, she was locked in a legal battle with her previous employer Walmart. She was SVP of comms there. [via Ad Age]

Bill Colletti has been named EVP and Los Angeles GM at Hill + Knowlton Strategies. Colletti was previously a senior strategist at Public Strategies Inc., a unit of H+K. He was with that firm for 11 years. Interestingly, he’s also served as a senior advisor to the government of Bulgaria.

Solomon McCown has named Ed Cafasso SVP at the firm. Cafasso was most recently SVP and director of corp comms for Sovereign Bank-Santander. In May 2011, it was announced that he had left MSLGroup in Boston where he was MD.

Rose Berg has been named SVP in charge of the healthcare practice in Weber Shandwick‘s Seattle office. Prior to joining Weber, Berg ran her own firm, Partners for Our Children, a public/private partnership with the University of Washington. During the course of her 25-year career, she’s worked with clients including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Pacific Health Summit.

Richard Millar, CEO of Hill + Knowlton Strategies UK has been named the president of the first-ever PR Jury at the Dubai International Advertising Festival, taking place March 4 through 7. Submissions are now being accepted here.

Alison Thompson has been named VP at Boston’s Solomon McCown. She was previously a senior account supervisor working with real estate, corporate, financial, consumer, and professional service clients. Her new role will have added operational responsibilities for the firm.
