Marc Andreessen had quite the eventful day, launching new venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and, as Josh Marshall, founder of TPM Media, parent of the TalkingPointsMemo blog, confirmed to TechCrunch, leading a small round of financing, between $500,000 and $1 million, with other investors participating, as well.

The TPM Media investment was independent of Andreessen Horowitz, as was last month's investment by Andreessen in blog network Alley Insider, TechCrunch reported.

The investment round Monday marked the first outside funding for TPM, which has relied in the past on advertising and three reader fund-raising events, according to TechCrunch.

Google Analytics reported that the TPM network of blogs has 1.5 million unique monthly visitors and 15 million page views.
