The Opportunity:

In support of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and under the direction of the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO), your primary focus will be to provide expertise and ongoing support in technical writing, graphics development, and outreach activities to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences, including the public, with clarity, accuracy, and consistency.

Responsibilities:

As a Technical Writer, Editor, and Graphic Designer supporting SpRCO, you will:

  • Research, analyze, coordinate, and prepare for distribution a variety of material/information that supports the mission, activities, and initiatives of the SpRCO.
  • Collaborate with other organizational entities within SpRCO or with members of other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the Secretariat Department of Defense and Congressional Agencies, to support strategic messaging.
  • Serve as an expert and point of contact (POC) in product creation, editing, and configuration control of products being developed.
  • Provide technical authority in grammar, style, and formatting and participate in workflow management.
  • Plan, edit, design, and write content for internal communications media, such as official correspondence, briefings, and classified and unclassified reports.
  • Develop art and copy layouts for classified and unclassified material presented via electronic video teleconferences and other visual communications, including media such as books, magazines, newspapers, websites, television, and packaging.
  • Perform comprehensive editorial reviews and analyze work products to ensure alignment with SpRCO’s goals and target audience.
  • Use Microsoft Office, Adobe Systems, and graphic design software and publishing tools to develop mission-driven artwork.
  • Formulate and implement strategic communication strategies to plan content, graphics, and presentations supporting SpRCO's mission and goals.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for graphic design, product creation, and artwork editing.
  • Support the development and execution of internal and external communication plans and strategies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or a similar discipline
  • Minimum of ten years of experience
  • DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience writing and editing technical reports and documentation using Microsoft Office, desktop publishing, presentation, spreadsheet systems, and Adobe Systems
  • Experience creating and designing mission-driven artwork and strategic communications using Adobe and Microsoft Suite products

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in English or a similar discipline
  • Prior experience working for SpRCO and/or the DoD
  • Knowledge of DoD strategic communication systems
  • Experience interacting with senior-level employees and preparing detailed reports and presentations for executive review
