What does someone who works in Marketing do?

Typically, people who work in marketing are responsible for developing and executing strategies to promote brands, products, and services, ultimately aiming to meet business goals. They monitor trends and develop advertising campaigns based on their audience. They also work to build greater brand awareness of the products and services that the company offers. There are many different types of marketing, such as branding, advertising, email, social media, referral, search engine, and more.

What are the requirements to work in Marketing?

However, typically someone entering this field needs at least a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. Sometimes employers even look for a candidate with an MBA. Additionally, experience within a type of marketing, whether it be branding, advertising, email, social media, etc. is preferred. Someone entering this field must have experience executing marketing campaigns from beginning to end, must be familiar with KPIs, and must have excellent written and oral communication skills. They also must have knowledge of the current markets they’d be working with and stellar time management skills.
