A Brand Manager is responsible for the marketing behind the overall image of a company. Because they oversee a company’s brand and image, a Brand Manager is accountable for managing different initiatives that will enhance the company’s brand awareness. They work to not only reach new consumers but also keep their current audience engaged.

Key elements of this job are researching the marketplace to determine where the product or client fits in and then executing marketing campaigns that raise brand awareness. Some responsibilities of a Brand Manager include:

  • analyzing competitive positioning, products, brands, and spending
  • developing marketing and advertising strategies
  • managing marketing budgets
  • helping create designs and layouts for print and digital advertising concepts signage and collateral
  • overseeing promotional activities
  • analyzing pricing and sales

 What are the requirements to become a Brand Manager?

A candidate applying for this job typically has at least a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Strategic Communications, Journalism, or Business. Top-notch writing skills and creativity are also tools of the trade. A Brand Manager needs to be a strong writer in both long and short forms to convey their message and creative to define and express the essence of a brand. Relationship management and storytelling prowess are also critical. Brand Managers need to build and maintain trust and a cohesive relationship with all their key stakeholders. They need good analytical skills, adeptness at budget management, and an exhaustive understanding of the product or person they’re promoting.
