Individuals may submit credentials for any relevant posting. The pool is ongoing, depending on curricular needs and funding. Selected individuals will be contacted if they reach the finalist stage. Responsibilities The School of Design at DePaul University seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor of Game Design and Development starting September 2025. Responsibilities include teaching, service, and professional development. The teaching load is up to 8 courses per academic year across fall, winter, and spring quarters, plus student advising.

We aim to strengthen our reputation as a top-ranked game design school, ranked #23 (graduate) and #28 (undergraduate) by Princeton Review 2025.

The successful candidate will teach students in the BS in Game Design program and related programs, with opportunities to teach in the MFA in Game Design. We value diversity, innovation, and contribution to our programs.

About the School of Design Located in Chicago, our school nurtures over 500 students in various design disciplines, including game design, graphic design, industrial design, and more. Our curriculum emphasizes storytelling, research, innovation, and making through digital media, games, and physical objects. Faculty engage in community outreach and support career development with state-of-the-art facilities, including VR/AR labs, makerspaces, studios, and a print lab. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or graduate degree (MFA, MDes, MS, MA, or equivalent) in a related field or professional equivalence.

Experience and commitment to quality teaching.

Ability to teach project-based game design courses at undergraduate level across related majors.

Creative practice or professional experience in the field.

Expertise in areas such as game production, technical development, UX, social impact games, narrative design, emerging tech, physical controllers, game studies, accessibility, etc.

Contributions to published games or recognition in the field.

Knowledge of and ability to mentor students in Unity, Unreal, or Godot.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Building community and participating in initiatives like game showcases and jams.

Effective mentorship and collaboration skills.

Network within the game industry.
