Summary

APTA is looking for a strategic and innovative Manager, Web Design to lead the optimization and management of APTA’s digital presence. As a key member of the Digital Marketing team, this role will oversee APTA.org and related platforms, driving enhancements in web content, user experience (UX), accessibility, SEO, and site performance.

The ideal candidate will bring a digital-first mindset to elevate member engagement, support organizational priorities, and ensure that APTA’s website communicates value, drives traffic, and boosts conversions. This role will collaborate across departments and with external partners to deliver seamless, user-centered web experiences aligned with APTA’s mission, vision, and brand standards.

This position directs implementation of strategies on Association priorities in the following areas:

  • Website Content Strategy and Management
  • User Experience (UX) and Usability Optimization
  • Web Analytics, SEO, and Performance Improvements
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration on Digital Initiatives
  • Website Governance and Best Practices

Essential Functions

  • Lead strategic planning and optimization of APTA.org to enhance usability, engagement, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Oversee daily website operations, ensuring content accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency.
  • Drive continuous improvements in UX, navigation, and design based on data insights and member feedback.
  • Develop and implement SEO strategies to increase organic traffic and visibility.
  • Monitor web analytics and provide actionable insights to improve user journeys and conversions.
  • Collaborate with IT, Marketing, Communications, and external vendors on technical enhancements and CMS governance.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA accessibility standards and privacy regulations.
  • Lead website governance, including content audits and best practices for cross-departmental contributors.
  • Stay current on digital trends and recommend innovative solutions to enhance member and consumer experiences.
  • Support integration with other digital platforms (e.g., Learning Center, online communities, CRM).
  • Coach internal teams on web content strategies and CMS best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, communications, web design, or related field preferred.
• 5 years of experience managing websites, UX optimization, and digital content strategy.
• Strong proficiency with CMS platforms, web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), and SEO best practices.
• Solid understanding of UX/UI principles, website accessibility (ADA), and web performance optimization.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing external vendors.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Knowledge of web governance frameworks and digital compliance standards.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and web technologies is a plus.

Local and National, up to 10%
