Description
We are looking for a Machine Learning System Engineer with a proven background at the intersection of ML optimization and ML model deployment. This role supports visual content generation initiatives that are part of Apple Intelligence. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, implementing, and deploying innovative conditional visual generative models
- Overseeing software workflows and test protocols for assembling and deploying visual generative models
- Performing R&D in emerging areas of efficient neural network development, including quantization, pruning, and compression algorithms focused on visual generation models
- Managing various components in the model lifecycle, from training and optimization to deployment, validation, and evaluation
- Communicating results and insights effectively within a highly multi-functional team
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work hands-on in multi-functional teams
- Strong programming skills in Python or C++
- Proficiency with toolkits like PyTorch or other deep learning frameworks
- Hands-on experience training or leveraging large-scale visual generative models (e.g., diffusion models) for real-world applications in computer vision
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong research background demonstrated through publications, patents, or impactful industry experience, with proven leadership in applied research and development
- Knowledge of model compression algorithms including quantization, pruning, distillation, and experience in optimizing large diffusion or language models
- Experience with hardware architecture, software, and hardware co-design
At Apple, base pay is part of a total compensation package, determined within a range based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The pay range for this role is $135,400 to $250,600.
