Job Title: Web Developer (PHP/CMS)

Location: Austin, TX – Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and administer the agency's Drupal website and WordPress blogs.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain web and browser applications to support Library programs and operations. Train team members in Drupal development and website management best practices.
  • Participate in and provide information in cross-agency workgroups for implementing standard web page templates and enterprise web applications including Drupal, WordPress, and in-house solutions.
  • Attend work regularly in accordance with agency policies.
  • Comply with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements

  • Provide weekly progress reports on work completed and current priorities.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and requests, resolving issues efficiently.
  • Maintain up-to-date system and network documentation.
  • Provide status updates on risks, challenges, and upcoming maintenance activities.
  • Undergo a criminal history check if selected.
  • Complete required IT Security training and provide certification of completion.
  • Support occasional after-hours maintenance or urgent incidents.
  • 40 hours per week.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience using PHP within the LAMP or LEMP stack to develop and maintain applications.
  • Experience designing, developing, and managing enterprise websites, tools, workflows, themes, and modules using a CMS like Drupal or WordPress.
  • Experience with web development frameworks such as Laravel, Django, or Symfony.
  • Proficiency in Drupal and WordPress website administration and management.
  • Knowledge of Linux OS and CLI.
  • Understanding of system development methodologies, programming concepts, and development environments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Python in the LAMP or LEMP stack.
  • Experience with information retrieval systems like Drupal Search or Solr.
  • Experience with Drupal administration tools like Drush.
  • Building responsive websites and implementing AJAX techniques.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Ruby, Java, and understanding cross-site scripting and SQL injection security issues.
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as Remedy or KACE.
  • Degree in computer science, information systems, or related fields.
  • Recent industry certifications related to programming or web development.
