DESCRIPTION
A Student Assistant (SA) at TJC plays an important role in promoting the mission of the college. The student assistant in this position must be willing and able to report to an off-campus location in Tyler to perform various clerical tasks that aid in maintaining an organized workflow assisting with day to day programming to the public via Tyler Public Library.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities
  • Helping with the set up and the cleanup of children's and adult programs and events
  • Helping program and event attendees with activities such as crafts and games
  • Passing out and picking up materials and supplies during programs and events
  • Counting the number of program or event attendees
  • Helping with preparation for programs and events such as cutting, stapling, gluing, and copying materials
  • Tidying play area and sanitizing toys
  • Operating DVD player and projector to show movies to children visiting the library after school
  • Reading with children or adults as a reading buddy

candidate must have and maintain a current valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record

QUALIFICATIONS
Students must be registered in at least two undergraduate classes and maintain enrollment status to work in these positions. Students must qualify for Federal Work Study, which will be determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress (2.0 GPA,67% pace rate, will not exceed 150% of their degree plan).

Additional Job Specific Requirements

Students are allowed to work a maximum of eighteen (18) hours per week and cannot work in multiple hourly positions. A work week is Sunday-Saturday.
