Client Overview: A well-known skincare company is seeking a Visual Merchandising Designer to support the Brand Experience department by developing and producing temporary and permanent merchandising materials across all retail channels, including Open Sell environments, department stores, and boutiques.
Role Overview: The Visual Merchandising Designer is responsible for executing and maintaining the visual identity of the brand across various retail environments. This includes producing seasonal merchandising collateral, developing event and launch materials, and ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. The role demands both creative and technical proficiencies, as well as strong project management capabilities to oversee timelines and deliverables in coordination with other departments.
Visual Merchandising Designer Responsibilities:
- Establish and uphold brand guidelines.
- Communicate brand values effectively and with relevance.
- Develop seasonal visual merchandising assets for Open Sell formats, including pricing materials (shelf strips) and visual updates.
- Assist in the design and development of 3D tester units.
- Collaborate with global and U.S. teams to create cohesive launch and event collateral across all retail environments.
- Propose innovative visual merchandising strategies to enhance brand storytelling and drive customer acquisition and retention.
- Coordinate with Merchandising, Project Management, and Purchasing to define and communicate project timelines.
Visual Merchandising Designer Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in visual merchandising design within the beauty industry, with a strong emphasis on Open Sell environments (e.g., Sephora, ULTA).
- Familiarity with production processes, materials, print techniques, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Proven project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of retailer-specific guidelines and industry trends.
- Skilled in negotiation to enforce brand standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Competence in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong technical and production abilities in 2D design.
