WTNH News 8, Connecticut’s first television station and a proud member of Nexstar Media Group, seeks a visionary Content Director to lead our multi-platform newsroom. This role demands a dynamic leader with expertise in digital metrics, audience behavior, and content strategy to oversee news operations across digital, streaming, and traditional broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, foster community engagement, and expand our audience reach. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Oversee newsroom operations, ensuring cohesive coverage across all platforms. Collaborate with management to set strategic direction. Digital Innovation:
Develop and execute a digital content strategy focused on growth, engagement, and retention. KPI Management:
Monitor and optimize digital performance using relevant KPIs such as page views, video views, and social engagement. OTT/Streaming Oversight:
Lead content strategies for OTT and streaming, including live and on-demand programming. Editorial Standards:
Maintain high journalistic integrity and standards across all content. Team Development:
Recruit, mentor, and develop newsroom staff to foster innovation and accountability. Cross-Department Collaboration:
Work with digital, marketing, and technical teams to ensure content is timely and aligned with brand goals. Community Engagement:
Promote diverse and inclusive coverage reflecting the community. Revenue Collaboration:
Partner with sales and marketing to create monetizable, audience-driven content. Industry Awareness:
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Qualifications
5-7+ years of newsroom management experience, with a focus on digital/streaming content strategy. Proven success in growing audiences across multiple platforms. Proficiency in digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Chartbeat). Experience managing OTT platforms and content management systems. Strong leadership, editorial judgment, and communication skills. Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving news environment. Preferred Skills
10+ years management experience in large or mid-size markets. Background in digital-first or streaming-first newsrooms. Knowledge of SEO, digital monetization, and emerging platforms like FAST channels, YouTube, TikTok. Experience working across organizational departments. Strong fiscal management skills for operations and capital expenditures. Additional Details
