WCVB, the ABC affiliate in the Boston market, is searching for a Unit Manager/Production Coordinator for Chronicle, the station’s nightly news magazine program, which recently celebrated 43 years on the air and whose mission is to tell the stories of New England across all platforms. The Unit Manager/Production Coordinator manages office functions for the program, coordinates production elements for each broadcast, and produces content for digital platforms. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter with an attention to detail who can work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You will report to the Chronicle Executive Producer.
Responsibilities:
- Help prepare the nightly rundown for the show, creating cut sheets, ordering graphic and chyron information, timing segments, and reviewing all video elements before air
- Staff the control room four evenings per week, collaborating with director, control room crew, and Chronicle anchors to produce the live show
- Draft web articles, clips video, and posts video to web nightly (post-broadcast) and post weekly program listings to Chronicle website
- Assist with creating content for digital platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and other social media channels, working both independently and with Chronicle producers, videographers, editors, and managers
- Occasionally work in the field to help coordinate live remotes, such as Chronicle’s Boston Marathon live show and Holiday Lights
- Supervise Chronicle interns
- Assist managers with scheduling and ordering/managing office supplies
- Assist managers, producers, and crews in other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in a broadcast environment
- Experience creating compelling content for digital platforms
- Must be skilled at multi-tasking and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with ENPS, Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, SEO preferred
- Equivalent military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and associated experience will be considered
