Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Multimedia Specialist/Animator to lead animation, design, and visual communication strategies in support of high-priority initiatives at the Federal Aviation Administration. This role requires a seasoned creative professional who can translate complex, technical topics into clear, engaging visuals and interactive content suitable for diverse audiences as well as manage complex multimedia projects, mentor creative teams, and maintain strict quality control and visual consistency across platforms and formats.

This position is a hybrid role and will require one day onsite per week in Washington, D.C.
Qualifications and Experience:
BA in Visual Communications or related
At least 5 years of experience in multimedia design, animation, and motion graphics.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop), Cinema 4D, and Procreate.
Strong working knowledge of AI tools and their integration in creative workflows.
Formal training in art, design, or a related visual field.
Excellent communication, project management, and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to translate complex ideas into visually compelling media.
Preferred Qualifications:
Government or policy communication experience.
Familiarity with aviation, transportation, or safety-related content.
Experience managing creative teams in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the creative lead for visual campaigns across high-priority FAA and DOT initiatives, including public safety communications, policy rollouts, and internal strategic messaging.
Lead the design and production of animations, explainer videos, branded templates, title sequences, and motion graphics packages.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define visual messaging goals, present concepts, and manage reviews and approvals.
Integrate AI-enhanced design tools and automation into creative workflows for scalability and efficiency.
Translate complex regulatory, technical, and policy topics into clear, engaging visual narratives and interactive media.
Maintain brand consistency and visual quality across multiple platforms, including broadcast, digital, and social channels.
Mentor and guide junior designers and motion artists on creative direction, tool proficiency, and industry best practices.
Oversee the end-to-end production process, including script breakdowns, storyboarding, visual planning, editing, and final delivery.
Motion Design & Animation:
Advanced expertise in Adobe After Effects, including compositing of live-action, computer graphics, and graphic elements, kinetic typography, expression scripting, motion tracking, and visual storytelling.
Creation of MOGRTs for scalable deployment in Adobe Premiere Pro workflows.
Proficient in 2D/3D compositing, match-moving, and particle effects using tools such as Trapcode and Stardust.
Video Editing & Post-Production:
Edit narrative and promotional content using Adobe Premiere Pro, including multicam workflows, nested sequences, and dialogue editing.
Perform sound design, voiceover syncing, music integration, audio leveling, and color grading with Lumetri and LUTs for professional polish.
Prepare deliverables with titles, captions, and accessibility compliance, optimized for various formats including social, broadcast, and multi-device viewing.
3D Motion Graphics & Integration:
Design and animate 3D scenes using Cinema 4D or equivalent, including camera movement, texturing, lighting, and rendering for both stylized and photorealistic outputs.
Integrate 3D elements into 2D compositions using Cineware, OBJ/EXR pipelines, and multipass rendering workflows in After Effects.
Create dynamic title and logo animations with 3D extrusion and physics, while optimizing assets for render efficiency and cross-platform scalability.
Visual Design & Illustration:
Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate for vector illustration, concept art, iconography, and visual asset creation.
Capable of translating concepts into storyboards, pitch frames, and final deliverables.
Deep understanding of typography, layout, and brand development.
AI-Enhanced Design & Automation Tools:
Applied knowledge of generative AI platforms (e.g., Midjourney, Firefly) for prototyping and concept development.
Experience with AI-assisted editing, voice synthesis, and prompt-based asset creation.
Leadership in integrating AI tools into structured team workflows and automation pipelines.
Workflow, Project Management & Collaboration:
Proficiency in managing production schedules, creative workflows, and stakeholder communications as well as cross-functional team collaboration.
Experience facilitating reviews, gathering feedback, and iterating on multimedia products.
Familiarity with Section 508 standards and ensuring visual accessibility compliance
