Description
Under the supervision of the Division Dean of Arts & Communications, the Adjunct Associate Professor of Fashion Design and/or Fashion Merchandising teaches organized classes primarily in the Fashion Design and/or Fashion Merchandising disciplines. The primary responsibility is to teach up to 10 units (part-time) in the assigned discipline.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Instruct courses in Fashion Design and/or Fashion Merchandising according to approved credit course outlines.
- Maintain expertise in current teaching methods, discipline knowledge, and technologies.
- Assist students in achieving course objectives, evaluate progress, and refer students to counseling or tutorials as needed. Track and record student learning outcomes.
- Participate in curriculum review, modification, and assessment to ensure program success.
- Collaborate with campus and community groups to provide relevant programs and courses.
- Coordinate with faculty on instructional materials selection.
- Complete reporting procedures for evaluations, course reporting, and budgeting.
- Assist in preparing required reports by providing necessary information.
- Attend departmental, divisional, and campus activities as required.
- Plan and complete professional development activities each semester.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Dean and in accordance with Board Policy.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with two years of related professional experience, or Associate's Degree with six years of related experience. Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in teaching postsecondary courses, ability to adapt teaching strategies, use of multimedia and online techniques, curriculum development leadership, and interest or experience in online teaching.
