Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:Teaching duties in undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral programs in both Library Science and Instructional Technology. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: (1) Teaching graduate courses in all areas of Library Science including the following areas of school librarianship: technology, cataloging, reference, collection development, research, school library programming, and school library administration. In addition to courses in online learning design; learning and Web technology tools; instructional design; coding and software development; and multimedia design. Advising and supervising graduate level students; (3) Field supervisor for interns and (4) Participating in professional program, department, college, and university committees. Experience in teaching courses online is a plus.
Educational Requirements for the Position:Ph.D. in Library Science or PhD or Ed.D. in Educational Technologyand a master in Library Science.
Experience Required for the Position:The candidate must be a certified school librarian and teacher have certification. If candidate is certified in another state the candidate may be asked to seek school librarian certification in Texas. Candidates should have potential for excellent teaching and research. Appropriate PK-12 teaching and school library experience is required.
The candidate must also have experience with or demonstrated capacity for success in developing and delivering high-quality synchronous and asynchronous online learning courses and programs. Experience with an array of instructional technology tools and platforms. Knowledge of theories, models, and tools related to instructional technology.
Demonstrated team-oriented approach to work. Capacity to engage with and support learners’ needs in virtual settings. Willingness to engage in promoting academic programs and fostering partnerships to benefit programs and students.
This position is for the Fall 2025 semester.
