Assistant/Associate Professor and Writing Center Director
Join to apply for the Assistant/Associate Professor and Writing Center Director role at Western Illinois University.
The faculty member will be expected to direct the University Writing Center, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research, and serve on committees. Undergraduate teaching includes courses in our professional writing minor and major options, as well as our first-year writing program. Graduate teaching involves courses in writing studies. The faculty member may also develop new courses in their area of expertise. The director of the Writing Center has a reduced teaching load and receives a summer supplemental contract.
Rank and Salary
This is a tenure-track, 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary ranges from $7,242 to $8,835 per month, depending on experience.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or a related field by the time of appointment
- Commitment to contemporary best practices in writing studies
- At least two years of college-level teaching experience
- Focus on technology and digital media, digital rhetoric, multimodal composition, writing program administration, or professional/technical writing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Success in teaching students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Experience in writing program administration or curriculum development and assessment
