We are seeking a motivated and talented Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Advertising, where we aim to make Amazon the best destination for shoppers to discover, engage, and build affinity with brands. Our team develops the central Brand Understanding foundation for Amazon ads and beyond, focusing on aligning customer shopping intent with brand value using advanced Machine Learning technologies such as Large Language Models and Multi-Modal Deep Neural Networks.

Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of eCommerce and advertising, providing digital display advertising solutions to help customers find and discover products. We serve a diverse range of advertisers and focus on a customer-first approach in all our initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
- Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and transformer-based models, applying machine learning and natural language understanding techniques to enhance shopper and advertiser experiences.
- Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with large datasets to develop insights.
- Conduct A/B experiments, evaluate their impact, and communicate results to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to design experiments and implement solutions.
- Participate in the Amazon-wide machine learning community through hackathons and conferences.
- Assist in attracting and recruiting technical talent.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD, or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in CS, CE, ML, or related fields.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
- Experience implementing algorithms using toolkits and self-developed code.
- 3+ years of practical machine learning experience.
- 1+ years of experience building models for business applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business applications.
- Experience in professional software development.
- Strong background in ML, NLP, and LLM algorithms and tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
