The responsibilities of the Publicity Assistant consist of both heavy administrative and project work.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supports supervisors in all facets of their daily work: calendar management and scheduling; phone, email, letters, memos, and other written correspondence; research on a variety of subjects; understanding of key toolsets (Muck Rack, Power BI, Microsoft Teams); handling mailings; other clerical support (notes, memos, etc.); event planning.
- Coordinates internal and external communications efforts, including agent and author calls, meetings with key media contacts and event venues, and more.
- Develops and writes press releases, pitch letters, author Q&As, and press kits.
- Identifies key audiences on a title-by-title basis, develops targeted mailing lists, and executes galley mailings.
- Maintains contact with agents, authors, booksellers, and media.
- Coordinates publicity campaigns.
- Assists with planning book tours, media outreach, creating detailed itineraries, and author travel, where necessary.

- Previous administrative experience a plus
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word required
- Self-starter with the ability to develop new projects and departmental initiatives
- Proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong interest in the book publishing industry
- Fluent in digital technology and possesses a keen interest in media
- A goal-oriented team player who can cultivate productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in creative problem solving, decision making, and time management
- Book Publishing or Publicity/PR internship experience a plus but not required
The salary for this position is $51,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities 3-4 days per week. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
