Title: Library Media/Information Assistant
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency. Experience in computer operations and related fields. Knowledge of library software preferred. Ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators. Current knowledge in instructional technology in a school environment.
Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: Ten-month school year; salary and work hours established by the Board of Education agreement with Grayslake PSRP Council, Local 504, IFT-AFT, AFL-CIO.
Job Goal: Responsible for providing an efficient information, research, and media program for district students, staff, and community access. Provide information on media materials and equipment to faculty, parents, and staff, aligned with district curriculum.
Professional Qualifications: Experience with computers and software, familiarity with school applications and staff development, keyboarding skills, knowledge of software copyright laws, hardware/software installation, equipment circulation procedures, troubleshooting skills, record-keeping abilities, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain daily library activities, assist students and staff with book checkout and shelving.
- Manage media inventories and circulation.
- Assist in operation and maintenance of the school media/technology program.
- Contribute to the development of the building's media budget.
- Maintain inventory of media materials and equipment.
- Train staff on media resources as needed.
- Align activities with district goals and priorities.
- Organize and inventory media materials and equipment.
- Help develop security measures to prevent loss or damage.
- Assist in implementing the district's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
