Teaching & Learning Librarian
The UMKC University Libraries are seeking a curious and collaborative person to join us as a Teaching and Learning Librarian. This position will contribute to the instructional and reference programs within the library, particularly in support of the School of Education, Social Work and Psychological Sciences. Teaching and Learning Librarians work in a team-based environment to ensure that students from all backgrounds develop information literacy skills in their fields. We are a supportive and evolving group situated in the main library at a mid-sized university in the heart of Kansas City’s vibrant, socially-conscious, entrepreneurial community. This position is a 12-month, non-tenure track, ranked benefit-eligible faculty librarian appointment and reports to the Head of Teaching & Learning.

Services and Resources Division
The Services and Resources Division of the UMKC University Libraries includes a broad representation of work, including the operations of UMKC's Miller Nichols Library and Health Sciences Library, as well as oversight of our strategic collections. The division includes three service point operations (Circulation, Health Sciences Library, and Music/Media Library), two collections departments (Collections & Acquisitions and Resource Sharing), and two teaching departments (Clinical Support, and Teaching & Learning).

Job Description
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Initiates or provides library instruction to support the curriculum across disciplines with particular attention to the fields of education, social work, and psychology.
- Follows established workflows and contributes to the team’s learning initiatives to promote student success in face to face, online, and blended learning classrooms.
- Through training and other means explores, implements, and assesses relevant teaching resources, methods, and inclusive pedagogies to achieve learning objectives.
- Provides face- to- face and online reference support on request and by appointment.
- Serves on the Collections Team to represent collection needs within the social sciences.
- Serves on UMKC Libraries’ faculty governance group and a variety of University Libraries, UMKC, and UM System committees, working groups, or teams.
- Pursues professional development and contributes to the profession via service and/or research
Minimum Requirements:
- A master's degree in library science/library information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or from a program in a country with a formal accreditation process as identified by ALA’s Human Resource Development and Recruitment Office or equivalent.
- Ability to effectively communicate new concepts in formal and informal teaching environments.
- Experience or knowledge of active learning, online learning, and collaboration tools (Canvas, Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to set and follow through on individual and team priorities.
- Potential to meet promotion requirements in non-tenure track appointment, evidenced through service, research, leadership, innovation, and/or professional development.
Salary will be commensurate with rank and qualifications, and the anticipated hiring range for this position is $50,000-$57,500.
Minimum salaries for ranks are: Librarian I $50,000, Librarian II $55,000, Librarian III $62,500, and Librarian IV $72,500.
