Position Specific Summary
The Student Library Assistant will provide support to library patrons looking to navigate library and university resources. This is a customer service position serving the GW community and is based in Gelman Library. Specific responsibilities include:
- Monitor service areas at the Ask Us Desk and the Create Digital Studio to ensure patrons receive high-quality support.
- Answer basic inquiries regarding access to library and university resources, escalating to a supervisor when necessary.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of academic technologies in Gelman Library.
- Monitor check-out requests of multimedia equipment, ensuring accuracy in record keeping.
- Assist with other special projects or events and should be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
Standard Position Description
The student will support the administrative and logistical tasks in a GW library. Tasks may include: retrieving and reshelving materials, staffing the reference desk and assisting on-site patrons, fulfilling patron requests for scans and photocopies of materials, stacks management, assisting staff with researching patron reference queries, monitoring patrons for compliance library and university protocols, and record-keeping tasks to support collection management practices. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided.

- Current undergraduate student
- Experience with customer service in fast-paced environment, including answering phones
- Basic knowledge of computer troubleshooting & operation
