Under the direction of the Association Assoc. VP [of Marketing & Brand Management, of PR & Communications], the Marketing Director is responsible for effectively recommending, developing and implementing approved marketing plans for promoting their Centers’ programs, activities and events, and for Association programs, activities and events, as assigned, to optimize revenue, engagement and retention. The Marketing Director is also responsible for developing and promoting a positive YMCA image in the community through marketing communication, including newsletters, blogs, articles, press releases, social media posts, print, photography, videos, websites, and other media/channels for sharing inspirational Y stories. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, a related field, or its equivalent, and 3-5 years professional experience Positive, flexible team member with “can do” attitude and ability to lead through influence and inspire collaboration Strong marketing and public relations skills, high level of written, digital, visual and oral communication skills, plus relational skills including tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner Proficiency with desktop publishing for marketing functions, familiarity with CORE and YMCA of Greater Indianapolis marketing and digital technology/tools, e.g., Delivra, Marketing Cloud, Hootsuite, InDesign, WordPress, social media channels (proficiency will be required in the role), ability to quickly adopt new technology/tools required Experience with maintaining websites and other digital media to engage and inform customers Strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and handle numerous projects concurrently Knowledge of budget development and management, income production and expense control Ability to establish positive relationships with community organizations and corporations in promotion of membership, programs and the YMCA mission PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote primary Center programs, activities and events using processes and tactics in alignment with approved marketing strategies and budgets (e.g., through newsletters, blogs, articles, press releases/earned media, social media posts, print, templates, photography, videos, websites, email/SMS “customer journeys”, and other media/channels) Evaluate, prioritize and translate Center needs to marketing deliverables. Develop and execute approved Center marketing plans for increased engagement and growth in collaboration with Association Assoc. VPs (Marketing supervisors), Association Director of Marketing Technology & Digital Marketing, CBEO, and other Marketing Directors, and with input from appropriate Center/Association leadership (e.g., VPs, Execs, Directors and other subject matter experts) Develop and execute approved marketing plans for Association program areas/initiatives as assigned (e.g., Sports, Aquatics, Wellness, Youth and Family, Active Older Adults, Social Responsibility & Community Impact, Development, Corporate, Engagement, Retention/Loyalty) in collaboration with Association Assoc. VPs (Marketing supervisors), Association Director of Marketing Technology & Digital Marketing, CBEO, and other Marketing Directors, and with input from appropriate Center/Association leadership (e.g., VPs, Execs, Directors and other subject matter experts) Plan and develop annual/monthly marketing calendars with input from appropriate Center/Association leadership and Marketing supervisors Collaborate with and support other Marketing Directors and Marketing supervisors on tasks as assigned, including joint membership and retention initiatives Manage Centers’ social media and newsletters to increase engagement, manage Centers’ web pages, ensuring information is current, assist with Association website, as needed Develop Y stories for internal and external release (e.g., newsletters, blogs, website, Impact/Annual Report, and earned media) Be proficient with current operations software (for marketing plans and tactics), Delivra, Hootsuite, InDesign, Marketing Cloud, WordPress, videography, and photography, adapting to continuously changing technology and customer expectations Follow the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Style Guide and writing best practices, use InDesign and adhere to Y-USA Brand Identity Standards Assist with urgent communication during crises and in support of other pressing deadlines (e.g., talking points, press releases, blogs, website, social media, and coordinating interviews) Be accountable for driving membership and program revenue and underlying metrics, including engagement/retention Recommend and manage approved local Center media/advertising opportunities (e.g., neighborhood publications), plan and collaborate with Centers on grassroots marketing opportunities (e.g., community posters/flyers) Plan and collaborate with Centers on Corporate engagement, with the leadership of the VP Member Experience & Engagement Provide marketing support for the Y’s Way to Service and Engagement (Welcome/Connect/Support/Invite) Serve as the Center primary contact for marketing Other duties as assigned It is the policy of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to provide equal employment opportunity to employees and candidates for employment.
