Section 1: Position Summary
The Web Developer will work on a high-energy cross-functional team responsible for ensuring the client interface of our web applications functions properly and smoothly. This role involves interfacing with business and IT scrum teams, providing guidance, technical knowledge, and best practices to support the development of the Ascensus Umbraco Cloud digital ecosystem of public websites, primarily focusing on retirement growth initiatives.
The role will ensure that the platform, components, and overall application are responsive, robust, and maintainable by applying current best practices in user interface development. The Web Developer will coordinate with marketing and IT teams on different infrastructure layers. Key expectations include staying updated on Umbraco Cloud and related technologies like Umbraco Engage and Umbraco Forms, collaborative problem-solving, sophisticated design, and exploring new digital technologies to enhance usability and visual appeal.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain web applications using Umbraco CMS, creating responsive websites aligned with design guidelines and information architecture, optimizing performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with designers to translate UI/UX designs into web visuals.
- Implement features with clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Resolve issues related to the Umbraco backend and database.
- Upgrade the Umbraco platform as needed and ensure plugin compatibility.
- Support front-end or CMS-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving backend technical problems.
- Create estimates, assist with planning, and track progress throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in architectural discussions to ensure UI/UX design feasibility, influence decisions, and collaborate to maintain consistency.
- Build reusable code and UI pattern libraries for multiple applications.
- Establish and enforce best practices for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Protect and handle confidential data securely to prevent unauthorized access and disclosures.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of experience developing websites using Umbraco CMS.
- Umbraco Certified or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in C# and .NET framework.
- Familiar with Igloo template and MVC design patterns.
- Deep understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Experience with database design and integration for Umbraco projects.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with version control tools like Git.
- Understanding of site performance and optimization best practices in Umbraco.
- Commitment to continuous learning about Umbraco updates and features, with expertise in web technologies and client-side scripting.
- Knowledge of UI unit testing, cross-browser compatibility, and workarounds.
- Experience with at least one modern JS framework (ReactJS, KnockoutJS, AngularJS, Bootstrap).
- Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture, Web services, API integration, and Restful Services.
- Developed reusable UI component libraries.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code following engineering best practices.
- Experience working in CI/CD environments with other developers and test engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative team spirit with excellent communication skills.
Remote work requirements include a dedicated workspace, family care arrangements during working hours, and internet speed of at least 25 Mbps. For call center roles, equipment must be hardwired or near the router. Ensure these conditions are met before applying.
