As a Design Unit Architect within the Project Design Unit, you will have the opportunity to contribute to building a stronger tomorrow by applying your diverse background, education, and work experiences to a variety of assignments. Architect . This role is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) Design and Construction Team, supporting the Project Design Unit. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service. FMDC Vision - Building for a Stronger Tomorrow (BFAST) What you’ll do:
Prioritize excellent customer service for a diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including internal teams, state agencies, officials, contractors, and the public. Serve as a technical resource, providing guidance to project team members and key stakeholders. Design and develop a variety of architectural projects from start to finish, including roof replacements, interior renovations, accessibility upgrades, exterior improvements, and historical renovations. Prepare drawings and specifications, review work, resolve conflicts, and manage project schedules, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant standards and codes. Verify existing facility conditions through fieldwork, translate data into sketches or AutoCAD drawings for bidding and construction. Create and edit technical specifications, prepare cost estimates using RSMeans data. Manage construction phases by reviewing contractor shop drawings, verifying compliance, and certifying contractor pay applications and change requests. Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols, in addition to OSHA standards. All you need for success:
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills that inspire trust and build rapport with stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects independently or in teams, following applicable procedures and regulations. Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field. Registration as a professional architect in Missouri is preferred. 3-8 years of experience in architecture, design, or related fields. Proficiency in AutoCAD, RSMeans, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, critical thinking, and excellent attendance. Safety-conscious mindset with knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Knowledge of building codes and standards. Valid driver’s license from Missouri or an adjacent state if residing outside Missouri. Lack of post-secondary education will not be the sole reason to deny consideration. Successful background checks, including name and fingerprint screenings, are required. *This position is in an office environment. Duties may include prolonged sitting, typing, communication, problem-solving, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders, working outdoors, and on uneven surfaces.
