Associate Designer
About ELAN:
Since 1991, ELAN has been creating fashion-forward collections featuring high-quality fabrics, flattering silhouettes, and relaxed fits — perfect for lounging or traveling to your next dream destination. We seek a passionate, detail-oriented Associate Designer with a strong eye for trends and a love for elevated, on-brand design to join our growing team.
Position Summary:
The Associate Designer will help drive the seasonal women's collections for ELAN, blending creative design with strong technical skills. This role requires a keen eye for trend, proficiency in garment construction and fit, and the ability to translate ideas into brand-right, commercially viable styles. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-driven, and capable of managing multiple categories while maintaining seasonal timelines from concept through production.
Responsibilities:
●Research trends, fabrics, and colors to inspire seasonal direction; create mood boards and seasonal concepts
●Design and develop brand-right collections across knits, wovens, and sweaters
●Create detailed tech packs, CADs, and design mockups for development and production
●Manage PLM systems, ensuring product data, approvals, and updates are accurate and current
●Review lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and fabric submissions for color and quality approvals
●Track and manage style development across the season, ensuring timelines are met
●Maintain design boards, update line sheets, and assist with internal line presentations
●Attend fittings, refine samples, and ensure each style meets quality and fit standards
●Collaborate with overseas vendors to communicate design updates and ensure product development remains on schedule
●Source seasonal fabrics and trims that align with design vision and cost targets
Qualifications:
●3–5 years of industry experience in women’s apparel design (preferably across knits, wovens, and sweaters)
●Strong sense of style, trend relevance, and brand alignment
●Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (technical flats, CADs, design presentations)
●Solid understanding of garment construction, fit, and product development process
●Experience designing Wovens, Cut & Sew Knits, and Sweaters
●Familiarity with PLM systems to manage style data, development milestones, and approvals
●Skilled in Microsoft Excel for seasonal tracking and reporting
●Ability to manage 40–50 styles per season across multiple categories
●Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with design, production, and merchandising teams
●Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
●Problem-solving mindset and strong decision-making skills are a plus
