Service Writer - Fleet Management (automotive knowledge req.) Description
Our client, a commercial towing and repair shop, is looking for a Service Writer to join their team in Oxnard, CA. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact between customers and the repair team, ensuring clear communication and accurate documentation of service requests. You will support job quoting, parts purchasing, and billing activities. Throughout each week, their shop typically works on 15-25 ongoing jobs with 2-5 new trucks coming in daily. Whether your automotive knowledge is from working in a similar environment or you just have a passion for cars and enjoy tinkering with them in your free time, this would be an excellent fit for someone with a passion for all things automotive. Someone who has a basic understanding of vehicle repairs. Because our client has a smaller team, what they lack in upward mobility they make up for with a positive, easy-going culture. Their clientele is very stable, and they often have more business they can keep up with, making this a great fit for someone who also values job stability.
Service Writer - Fleet Management (automotive knowledge req.) Responsibilities
• Oversee service needs and parts for fleet vehicles (14 semi-trucks, 30 trailers) • Communicate schedules and repair needs to mechanics (6) • Manage external repair orders from commercial clients • Handle incoming service calls and keep customers updated on status • Create accurate and comprehensive job quotes • Ensure all work orders include necessary details (labor, parts, etc.) • Review completed repair orders for accuracy and proper billing • Update job costs and timeline as needed • Review, order, and process new parts added into inventory • Maintain organized records of service history and customer information

• Service writing experience or strong automotive knowledge required • Basic understanding of engines required • Comfortable using computers and learning new software required
