The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES has an anticipated opening for a Library Media Specialist. The successful candidate must have experience curating and managing a dynamic school library program that support the New York State Learning Standards and district curriculum.

The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES has an anticipated opening for a Library Media Specialist. The successful candidate must have experience curating and managing a dynamic school library program that support the New York State Learning Standards and district curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to design and implement instruction that integrates information literacy, digital citizenship, and research skills.
- Promote a reading culture by facilitating reading programs and book clubs.
- Teach students how to locate, evaluate, and ethically use information from a variety of sources.
- Maintain the library collection, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, and weeding of materials.
- Ensure students and staff have equitable access to a wide range of print and digital records.
- Maintain the library technology tools and online databases; provide tech support and training as needed.
- Valid New York State certification as a School Library Media Specialist (Library Science - All Grades).
- Master's degree in library and information science from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of current educational technology, digital tools, and library automation systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communications, and collaboration skills.
- Passion for literacy, student engagement, and innovation in education.
