Working as a member of First Command’s User Experience team and reporting directly to the Director, User Experience, the UX Content Strategist will lead content strategy and writing efforts across platforms that support employees, advisors, and operations teams. These internal tools power essential workflows across banking, wealth management, and financial planning—making clarity, efficiency, and usability critical. In this role, you’ll partner closely with UX designers, researchers, product owners, and SMEs to ensure that internal users can navigate complex systems confidently and productively. Your content will directly impact efficiency, accuracy, and satisfaction across our employee experience.
What will the employee do in this role?
- Define and drive content strategy for internal platforms, dashboards, and tools used by advisors, contact center teams, and operations staff
- Write clear, concise, and accessible UI content, instructions, alerts, and process flows tailored to user roles and technical environments
- Translate complex workflows into user-friendly language while maintaining precision and regulatory compliance
- As a UX team member, partner with product, and training teams to support onboarding and system learning through in-product guidance and contextual help
- Help standardize internal content across platforms by contributing to design systems and voice/tone documentation
- Conduct content audits and contribute to experience mapping to identify content pain points and process inefficiencies
- Participate in usability testing, content reviews, and iteration cycles with a focus on internal user success
What skills and qualifications do you need?
Education
Relevant college degree or certification required.
Communications or journalism degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Three+ years’ experience developing and writing corporate, internal, marketing communications
- Experience writing content for digital media, including web/mobile products
- Effective in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment; able to meet multiple deadlines and prioritize simultaneous projects
- Ability to effectively organize material, distill complex ideas and write concise, informative content
- Outstanding editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and shift priorities as business needs require
- Develop interpersonal and relationship-building skills that facilitate strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Demonstrate proficient expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint and willingness to become proficient in other software
- Experience in financial services, which might include investments, insurance and banking is desired
