Description
The Marketing Manager must be a good communicator that is able to give and take feedback, as well as effectively collaborate with team members and prioritize workflow. This position will have their hands in many different types of projects and be responsible for delivering results on time in a very fast-paced environment. Flexibility, confidentiality, and a positive attitude are crucial, as well as the ability to process and determine strategies from multiple data sources. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Writing, editing, and proofing internal and external communication.
- Assist PR Director with responses to media requests with information and assets.
- Complete and thorough content website oversight, and development activities which include production of landing pages, and notices for Houstonian.com and TrellisSpa.com.
- Update content, images, event promotions, and information on Houstonian.com and others as needed.
- Coordinate monthly meeting with Brewer Digital to review Google analytics activities and strategies to further drive traffic, increase conversions, and grow revenue.
- Coordinate monthly meeting with Vizergy to review Google ads, Meta, and traffic-generating analytics.
- Create pop-up menus for TRIBUTE small groups/parties.
- Update Hotel content regularly on Houstonian Club app including hours, images, and dining menus as needed.
- Coordinate and oversee production details for videography as needed for hotel, club and spa sales, website, and social media.
- Coordination of photographer for advertising, collateral, and public relations purposes.
- Coordinate content calendar and monthly press release deliverables with freelance PR staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Charity, non-profit and community relations activities to include:
- Marketing support of annual Kids & Clays event.
- Assistance with community projects, drives, and fund-raiser projects as needed.
- Manage responses to inquiries, and create gift certificates for charities and in-kind donations.
- Coordinate delivery of gift certificate redemption/reservations/activities with guests who purchase them in a timely and branded manner.
Campus-wide marketing projects:
- Update Hotel F&B, banquets, in-room dining, wedding, corporate, restaurant, and CMP menus.
- Update campus collateral design, including a quarterly tri-fold map and informational pamphlet.
- Update Hotel, Club, and Spa maps, hotel conference center maps, and evacuation maps.
- Manage production and design for merchandising, new products, and events as needed.
- Create marketing materials, menus, bi-monthly e-blast content, and communications for Trellis Spa.
- Coordinate proofreading of large projects with freelance proofreader.
- Update all online press rooms with current press releases and coverage promptly.
- Marketing support for merchandising (shop, food & beverage) as needed.
- Oversee Revinate Reputation Manager on-line tracking of sentiment analysis, trends and comp set comparisons.
- Coordination and updates of promotional and quarterly Front Desk informational materials, flyers, posters, signage and check presenters as needed.
- Coordinate production of dedicated web pages/PDF’s for transient, group and social sales promotions and packages.
- Google Business Profile (formerly GoogleMyBusiness) accounts for all business lines
- Bi-weekly update to Business Profile tiles.
- Update photos and menus on OpenTable account.
- Update The Knot, Weddings in Houston, and other listings, promotions for weddings and celebrations.
- Update main line Auto Attendant phone system and hotel guest text system scripting as needed
- Update online press room and photo library.
- Work with purchasing to bid projects and regularly track inventory of campus collateral.
Direct Events & Happenings campus committee:
- Coordination of marketing materials needed/timeline/assets for property events, food & beverage outlets and promotions involving the public, club members and/or hotel guests.
- Timely dissemination of event details/updates to Front Desk and Concierge staff.
- Booking and coordination of photographer/videographer for events as needed with follow-up of image descriptions/names, dissemination to stakeholders, and storage files of photos.
- Holiday promotions and activities; entertainment, hotel client events and promos.
- Coordinate 3rd Thursday, campus-wide Events & Happenings Meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Limb Design Agency.
- Brewer Digital Marketing.
- Creative Circle Proofreader.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree or High School Degree with minimum years of marketing experience.
- At least 5 years of marketing experience that must include the hospitality, private club, spa, and/or resort industries.
- Knowledge of Houston: places of interest, restaurants, affluent neighborhoods, and business.
- Relationships with and extensive knowledge of local and regional media of all types.
- Excellent writing and proofing skills (must provide examples of work).
- Knowledge of A.I. use in marketing.
- Ability to provide creative direction for photo shoots.
- Approachable demeanor that can multi-task with various departments and staff.
- Knowledge of all social media platforms and how to access, post, create content, and contract Influencers. Well-versed in social media posting and production, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
- Knowledge of Hootsuite, Dropbox, Canva, Flowcode, MailChimp, Vimeo, YouTube, Open Table and other marketing platforms.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Must be able to communicate in a concise yet personable tone, making the best use of interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to build excellent work relationships to achieve desired results.
- Available to work evenings and/or weekends when planning and assisting with special projects.
- Should possess good analytical and networking skills.
- Detail-oriented and flexible.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:
- Physical Stamina: Physical requirements of this position include having the ability to: sit for extended periods, stand and walk, see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids, enter data into a computer, operate standard office equipment, use a telephone, hear and understand at normal levels and on the telephone, speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone, stoop, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, move or lift to 30 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
- Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
- Literacy: Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
- Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
