**Job Description:**
**Technical Editor Senior**
Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a Technical Editor Senior supporting the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). GDIT offers a chance to contribute to meaningful projects and grow your career. We manage the scientific peer review of applications submitted to CPRIT, which aims to accelerate innovation in cancer research and develop the Texas Cancer Plan.
As a Technical Editor Senior, you will review and edit materials for punctuation, grammar, and content. Your primary responsibilities include editing Requests for Applications (RFAs), Instructions for Applicants (IFAs), and summary statements from the scientific peer review process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to style guides. This is a part-time, on-call, remote position, with assignments based on program demand, allowing you to work from anywhere in the U.S.
**Impact of the Role:**
- Check facts and copyedit documents according to guidelines, ensuring correct spelling, grammar, and format.
- Edit and review documents for consistency and quality.
- Ensure documents meet standards for clarity, presentation, and style.
- Review content for completeness and accuracy, revising as needed.
- Track workflow and communicate with team members to address issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of processes, procedures, and style guidelines.
**Qualifications:**
- MA/MS (or equivalent experience) in English, Journalism, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a Senior or EQR editor.
- Experience in scientific/medical editing and writing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate MS 365 skills, especially MS Word & Outlook.
- Experience with AMA Manual of Style and familiarity with APA style.
**Preferred Skills:**
- 10+ years editing scientific peer review summary statements.
- Knowledge of peer review and grants management processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
