Director of Development and Communications
. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and serving on the senior leadership team, the Director of Development and Communications is responsible for the strategy and execution of all fundraising, marketing, communications, volunteer engagement, and ReStore development efforts. Key Responsibilities Development Lead and grow all fundraising initiatives: annual appeals, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, events, and planned giving Build and steward relationships with individual donors, funders, and institutional partners Direct the planning and execution of signature fundraising events, including Women Build, the 40th Anniversary Gala, and peer-to-peer campaigns Oversee the ReStore program’s fundraising strategy to increase donations and earned revenue Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to set and meet development goals aligned with the annual budget Maintain accurate donor records and ensure timely reporting and stewardship Provide strategic direction and day-to-day supervision for the Development, Marketing, Volunteer, and ReStore teams Communications Lead organization-wide communications and brand strategy to elevate visibility and community engagement Manage media relations, press releases, and serve as a spokesperson when appropriate Oversee marketing efforts across print, digital, and social platforms Ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging across all channels Support internal communications and staff culture-building initiatives Oversee public engagement at events and community forums, fostering a strong and inclusive external presence Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of leadership experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or communications Demonstrated success in donor development, grant writing, campaign execution, and team supervision Strong public speaking and relationship-building skills; comfortable serving as a public representative of the organization Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and developing internal systems to support growth Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment Knowledge of affordable housing, community development, or housing-related policy is strongly preferred Deep commitment to equity, community empowerment, and the vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live Competitive salary starting at $70,000 Hybrid work environment Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Generous paid time off and holidays Employee assistance program Opportunities for leadership development and national training through Habitat for Humanity International About Habitat for Humanity Buffalo For 40 years, Habitat for Humanity Buffalo has partnered with first-time homebuyers to build safe, affordable homes and create lasting change in our community.
