Position Overview
This role is part of the Federal Work Study Program at Harold Washington Campus, within the Dance and Humanities Department. City Colleges of Chicago, the largest community college system in Illinois, offers accessible education to over 70,000 students annually.
The FWS program provides eligible students with subsidized part-time employment to support their educational and living expenses, aligning work opportunities with students' fields of study whenever possible.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor use of dance studio outside of class hours
- Maintain accurate records of studio activities
- Verify student IDs with current enrolled dance students
- Perform light cleaning and organize studio equipment
- Demonstrate excellent time management and work ethic
- Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Maintain a professional demeanor and provide great customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Availability Monday-Friday (day and evening), Saturday mornings/afternoons
- Dance majors encouraged to apply (access to studio outside class hours), but not required
Qualifications
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
- Enrolled in at least 6 semester hours of classes
- Pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester students)
- In good standing with no academic restrictions
- Not a current employee of City Colleges of Chicago
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or actively pursuing a GED
- Enrolled in at least 6 semester hours of classes
- Approved for Federal Work Study
- Successfully pass CCC hiring process (including background check & drug screening if applicable)
- Demonstrate positive role modeling and uphold City Colleges standards
