Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Orders library materials, maintains records, and re-shelves materials and/or assists with circulation, cataloging, archiving, research, and digitization services.
May monitor and manage library department desks and assist patrons by answering questions and teaching library procedures.
Manages the Stacks unit within the Wells Library which is responsible for organizing, re-shelving, shifting, searching, and inventorying the print collections.
Provides overall supervision and direction to assigned staff and temporary employees.
Develops efficient workflows and procedures, communicates effectively internally and externally, and resolves or refers problems.
Participates in the Collection Management department planning and meetings.
General Responsibilities
Handles and monitors library materials, including re-shelving, processing new material, restocking, and ensuring that all materials can be located quickly and easily.
Evaluates condition of library materials and may perform repair and preservation of library materials, as needed.
Assists faculty, students, and other patrons by answering phones and handling library-related issues, resolving non-routine problems related to library activities.
Monitors library systems.
Creates and updates basic records, maintains automated records, reviewing for completeness and accuracy.
Collects and collates data, compiles statistics, uses compiled information to prepare unit reports.
May assist with cataloging new items, performing audits of outstanding items, and/or inter-library loan materials processing.
May oversee library department desk and provide training and direction for students employees working the front desk.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Working on some holidays is required if the library is open.
Occasionally works at or picks up materials from a campus library branch.
