We are seeking a Technical Writer to provide managed IT Service Desk Services in support of the United States Postal Service (USPS), Office of Inspector General (OIG) in Arlington, VA.

The Technical Writer position is critical to the success of both the USPS OIG and the Supplier. The Technical Writer must create an effective working relationship with the COR, COTRs, Engineers, and CIO management team. As the Technical Writer, you will serve as the Service Desk and in other OIG areas for the documentation of OCIO support and services and will be responsible for documenting all knowledge-based information, processes, and procedures.
You will:
- Be responsible for designing/creating/maintaining technical and knowledge-based documentation including (but not limited to): Knowledge Repository, OIGNEWSLINK Articles, Process/Procedure Documents, Online Help, User guides, White papers, Requirements documents, Use cases, Documentation of items escalated to OIG Tier III and Engineering personnel
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical manuals, knowledge base articles, service desk runbooks, and user guides.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation tailored for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure documentation reflects current processes and technologies used in the USPS OIG IT environment.
- Maintain version control and document change history in accordance with USPS OIG and federal documentation standards.
- Support the development of training materials for service desk personnel and end-users.
- Assist in compiling documentation for performance reporting, audits, and compliance purposes.
- Ensure that all documents meet USPS OIG branding, accessibility (Section 508), and quality standards.
What qualifications do you look for?
- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
- A Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) level clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- A Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of IT technical writing experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an ability to convey technical information effectively.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and visuals.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, VISIO, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience in version control management and managing/maintaining the technical writing repository.
- Communication and collaboration skills and knowledge of industry standards and best practices for technical documentation.
