The Drinking Water Solutions Business Line of Calgon Carbon is growing faster than ever before.
We are looking to hire an eager Business Development and Technical Marketing Specialist (BDS) with several years of relevant experience. The BDS role will be a key resource for market information, including product, price, volume, competition, growth rates, target customers, etc. He/she is also responsible for interacting with marketing to develop and plan marketing activities and collateral. The BDS is expected to interface with adjacent groups within Calgon Carbon such as Application Engineering, Product Management, Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance in order to develop and execute innovative new approaches, products, and solutions in the identified market spaces. The BDS is responsible for assisting in the development of the essential strategy for marketing and promotion of sales in all of the business line’s areas, including spearheading strategic market assessments and supporting content development.
Basic Duties and ResponsibilitiesGENERALContribute to the overall growth of revenue, volume, market share and profitability in the Drinking Water Solutions market space. Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies and market-specific approaches to accomplish growth goals.Understand market drivers, trends and the market (competition, price, performance) and assist in the development of strategies to position CCC and the DWS business line as the leader in the market.Report and/or create projections for sales, volume, profitability, and market share.Work on projects related to R&D, product assessment, product development, pricing recommendations, customer targets and tracking, competitive landscape, and market outreach.Develop integrated opportunities and platforms across sales groups and communicate across Business Units when opportunities outside the space are identified.Lead development initiatives targeting growth in specified market segments (PFAS being the biggest opportunity presently).Spearhead or participate in projects and initiatives as assigned in support of the BL.Understand customer applications and technical requirements and develop value propositions for CCC products. Work with R&D to provide essential data for new product development and solutions.
SPECIFICMaintain, track and help to project prospects, projects, products, volumes, revenue, etc, through the use of Salesforce CRM and other databases and reporting systems. This will be key to supporting the growth initiatives for both the business line and the company overall.Identify and assess potential new market spaces for consideration as initiatives for growth.Track and report on competitive activity in the defined and emerging markets.Responsible for Salesforce CRM report generation and acting lead for the business line to support both the business initiatives and represent the business line on global CRM initiatives, rollouts or improvements.Work with manufacturing and R&D to develop plans as needed to enable evaluation of opportunities that require proof of concept, for example, laboratory evaluation or pilot plant development, etc. These could be both quick turnaround projects or long-term initiatives.Report/troubleshoot on variances and advise on strategy adjustments as appropriate.Some participation in technical conferences, trade shows, and industry forums to give and gain technical and market knowledge.Other duties to include contracts coordination, receivables coordinator, index tracking, bi-weekly report generation and other areas related to the overall tracking and development of the business.
QualificationsBachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is requiredMaster's degree (M.A.) or equivalent is preferred3-5 years
Chemical Engineering, related engineering/chemistry field is required or d
irect experience in GAC market or similar fields with relevant technical and/or business development focus.
