Long-Term Government Contract for Leading Edge Technologies
As a UI/UX developer in an Agile team, you will create intuitive, user-centered designs and develop responsive, interactive user interfaces. You will be part of a passionate team supporting best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Your creativity will help solve complex technical and procedural problems, with an emphasis on adaptability and collaboration across diverse and geographically separated teams.
Requirements
- Experience in collaborative communication through websites and web applications that are user-friendly and responsive across all devices
- 5+ years of experience in UI/UX development
- Professional experience with enterprise UI design tools such as Figma or similar
- Experience communicating designs with stakeholders including product owners, end users, and development teams
- Understanding trade-offs between design, technical feasibility, and maintenance
- Familiarity with Java and frameworks like Spring/Spring Boot
- Knowledge of our tech stack: Java 17, Spring/Spring Boot, React, UI state management, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, AWS
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo
- Ability to stay current with industry and customer trends
- Effective collaboration with stakeholders to drive solutions
- Use of data, validation, and feedback for testing and improvement
- Experience with responsive and mobile-first development
- Willingness to take risks and champion new ideas
- Experience developing various applications, including consumer-facing and internal tools
- Maintaining a user-centered approach aligned with business needs
- Ability to work effectively in an agile environment
- Knowledge of and ability to teach design tools like Figma, Axure, Sketch, Invision, XD
- Excellent communication skills
- Responsible, team-oriented, and proactive
- Preferred: Design Thinking certifications, web accessibility experience, information architecture skills, and knowledge of Lean and Agile principles
In this role you will:
- Work collaboratively using Agile methodologies with cross-functional teams
- Develop user interfaces that meet business and user needs
- Lead cohesive look-and-feel and user experience standards across applications
- Create and execute experience style guides, interaction patterns, and information design standards
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate ideas effectively
- Establish style libraries across applications
- Collaborate to assess feasibility and improve designs
- Ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables, providing guidance and performance reports
- Work independently within an Agile environment, utilizing tools like JIRA, Confluence, GitLab
- Mentor junior team members
- Must be able to work on-site in Ashburn, VA, 2-3 days per week
