Job Title: Library Assistant I
Do you have the desire to make a meaningful impact by engaging with a vibrant and diverse community through a world-class public library system? The City of Irvine is seeking multiple collaborative and customer service-oriented individuals to join as Library Assistant I in developing Irvine’s new public library system. The Librarian Assistant will provide a wide variety of paraprofessional and technical library assistance to the public under direct or general supervision. Please note that this position requires occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Part-time Hourly Range:
Library Assistant I (extended part-time/part-time) - $26.86 - $42.26 Hourly
Your Impact
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist library customers in using library services and technology, providing basic information and research assistance.
- Assist with collection maintenance as directed.
- Help implement general library programming and related activities.
- Interpret and apply library policies and procedures for customers.
- Participate in community and outreach events as directed.
- Assist with supervising facility rentals and enforce reservation rules.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Typically, qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or one year of experience working as a Library Assistant or higher; college coursework in Library Science or related fields is highly desirable.

- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse audiences.
- Basic knowledge of library resources and technology.
