Job Summary
The Red Oak Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Associate 3 - Outreach & Programming. This position reports to the Library Director and is part of the Operations Team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, be outgoing, work well independently or with groups, and be passionate about libraries.
Hours and Compensation
Hours per week: 20
Hourly rate: $15.50
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service with a welcoming attitude.
- Participate in community outreach and engagement programs with local institutions and organizations, including schools.
- Plan and lead programs for children and adults, such as storytimes, crafts, and STEAM activities.
- Develop and submit diverse programming proposals in line with guidelines.
- Transport, set up, and dismantle outreach displays.
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to customer privacy and records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, and Saturdays.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks timely.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with current insurance and a clean driving record.
- Proficiency with app-based devices, computers, printers, Microsoft Office, and office equipment.
- Experience with youth services and planning storytimes.
- Familiarity with Canva is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move within the location, lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods and focus on detailed work.
