Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Acting SRM is to lead, plan, organize, and coordinate the research and policy analysis of the Agriculture and Food Supply Section. This includes carrying out all responsibilities associated with research planning, section review, facilitating personnel matters in the section in coordination with division management, working with other members of the division management team, and completing other assignments as directed by the Assistant/Deputy Assistant Director.
The selected candidate will work on a broad cross-section of issues related to the development of research and policy analysis relevant to congressional needs. Issues covered by the section include the policy and economic implications of agriculture and food policy in key areas including domestic agricultural support, international trade, agricultural conservation, farm credit and disaster assistance, food safety, and rural development.
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities Expected:
- Knowledge of agricultural and food supply policy issues
- Ability to manage research
- Ability to review the analysis of others
- Ability to lead and manage staff
- Ability to communicate in writing
- Ability to convey information orally through briefings, consultations, and other presentations
- Knowledge of congressional decision making
- Ability to collaborate
