Lipscomb University's College of Entertainment and the Arts is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Director of the School of Music. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of music teaching and performance within a vibrant academic community.
The Director will provide strategic leadership and direction for the School of Music, including managing academic programs, curriculum development, and accreditation. Responsibilities also include overseeing all aspects of the School's operations such as events, admissions, recruitment, course scheduling, faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation. Additional duties involve managing the budget and expenditures, as well as fostering relationships with alumni and donors.
The School of Music at Lipscomb University is part of the College of Entertainment and the Arts, which also includes the School of Art and Design (Departments of Visual Art and Fashion) and the School of Theatre and Cinematic Arts (Theatre, Film, Animation Departments). The university offers an interdisciplinary graduate MFA program. The School of Music has a rich history of preparing professional music educators, scholars, composers, and performers. It offers a comprehensive curriculum with over 170 majors, including BM, BA, and BS degrees in performance, music education, commercial music (singer/songwriter and production tracks), worship arts, and music industry studies.
Qualifications include a terminal degree (Ph.D. or DMA) preferred. Teaching experience at the collegiate level is required. Active performance or research at regional and national levels is expected. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Review of applications will begin on March 20, 2025.
