Youth Services Assistant-Lumpkin County Library
Location: Lumpkin County Library
Schedule: 19 hours per week, some nights and Saturdays required
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Benefits: Eligible for FLEX benefits, including dental, vision, and life insurance.
Position Summary:
The Lumpkin County Library is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and organized individual for the part-time position of Youth Services Assistant. This public-facing role is responsible for planning and implementing engaging programs and storytimes for children from birth to age 5 and their caregivers. All library staff assist patrons and maintain library collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead storytimes, including songs and early literacy activities
- Plan and execute age-appropriate children’s programs
- Design flyers and “Take and Make” craft kits
- Create social media content and in-house publicity materials
- Assist with general youth services tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong background in children’s storytimes, including music and movement
- Excellent computer and technology skills
- Creativity and strong communication skills
- Ability to engage positively with children and caregivers
Preferred Education & Experience:
A high school diploma/GED with a minimum of two years’ experience in children’s programming
Preference will be given to candidates with previous library experience
