Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Public Relations, the Public Relations Manager helps to lead strategic communications across Delaware Valley targeting the media, patients, policymakers, donors, and the general public to elevate and manage the reputation of Nemours and its associates. This individual must be a self-starter with a knack for identifying and packaging compelling stories that gain national and regional attention. The role will support thought leadership by managing Nemours-owned content and securing third-party platform opportunities. The candidate should have experience in traditional media relations, thought leadership, digital content creation, award nominations, and other tactics. Building internal and external relationships and a proven track record of placing stories nationally, in the Philadelphia region, and in Delaware are essential. The primary focus will be on clinical areas within the hospital and promoting content from Nemours KidsHealth.org, aiming to highlight differentiators for recognition. This role is part of the Public Relations team within the Marketing and Communications Department, working closely with social media, internal communications, and marketing teams. It is based at the communications office near Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware, with some remote work allowed. The PR Program Manager must facilitate on-site media interviews and PR events. Essential Functions
Identify and craft compelling stories that influence and educate key audiences, positioning Nemours as a leader in pediatric healthcare. Promote healthcare innovation, cultivating relationships with researchers, clinicians, and stakeholders to secure media coverage and thought leadership. Maintain relationships with national consumer health media and regional health and business outlets in Delaware Valley. Strengthen relationships with patient and community organizations to enhance visibility and thought leadership. Secure speaking opportunities for experts at conferences and events. Plan and execute events, both in-person and virtual, managing all phases from concept to promotion and budgeting. Utilize public relations strategies to support philanthropic, legislative, and advocacy initiatives. Identify potential reputation issues and develop communication plans to address them. Create digital content in collaboration with multimedia and social media teams, including videos and photos adhering to brand standards. Write various communication materials such as press releases, advisories, blog posts, fact sheets, nominations, and speeches, ensuring accuracy and key messaging. Use media and social media tools like Cision, TV Eyes, PR Newswire, etc., effectively in daily operations. Willingness to travel locally and to Nemours sites in Florida, and work non-traditional hours as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus. 8 to 10 years of relevant experience.
