JOB TITLE: Weekend Anchor/MMJ

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NECESSARY: WWAY NEWS in beautiful, coastal southeastern North Carolina has an immediate opening for a Weekend News Anchor/Multimedia Journalist.

Primary responsibilities include anchoring and producing weekend newscasts, reporting during the week, fill-in anchor opportunities, managing the station’s website, and contributing to the station’s community image.

This is NOT an entry-level job. Previous professional reporting and anchoring experience is required. The ideal candidate must:

• Be a newsroom leader and self-starter
• Have good news judgment
• Manage the weekend shows and staff, including script approval, adjusting assignments, and ensuring proper newscast stacking
• Be available as a fill-in anchor on other shifts
• Serve as a lead MMJ on non-anchoring days, role modeling through reporting, anchoring, live shots, shooting, editing, and writing
• Generate story leads and bring relevant ideas to the team
• Maintain a strong social media presence
